“I have never had a conversation with anyone proposing the use of that site for that purpose,” Mr Di Pilla said.
Home Consortium purchased the site in a $725 million 61-store portfolio acquisition and in October a spokesman for the group, John Frey flagged mid-November for the “release of details of its plans for the portfolio.”
It is now mid-February and the Manning Valley community is still waiting to hear what business will occupy the site and bring jobs to the region.
The dairy processing factory is the latest rumoured proposed use of the site. In recent months community speculation has included suggestions that Spotlight Taree would relocate from its Victoria Street, Taree location, the return of Kmart, the addition of JB Hi-Fi and even the establishment of Costco.
Mr Di Pilla yesterday said “we are looking for the highest and best use for each of the sites and we are waiting to see where we end up in terms of demand for that particular site.”
