At a recent club meeting GLSCDC members unanimously decided to make a cash contribution to assist Sweet Pea Animal Rescue continue with its animal welfare work.
Since opening their doors in early 2014, Rob and Sam have surrounded themselves with a dedicated team of vet nurses, assistants and volunteers.
Their strong community commitment to animal health and welfare became obvious as they immediately extended their focus to include re-homing abandoned and injured pet animals and assisting injured native animals – all under the umbrella of the Sweet Pea Animal Rescue.
This service work has continued to grow, with the cost burden being carried almost entirely by the practice.
The work of the Sweet Pea Animal Rescue has recently been recognised by it becoming a registered charitable organisation.
GLSCDC also began in 2014 following discussion with Great Lakes Council about ways to help dog owners in the region better enjoy their pets, develop stronger control skills and fit responsibly into the broader community.
These two bodies share a strong sense of community spirit.
