The theme for the day was ‘We Can Together’ and the event was a celebration of community and inclusivity that aimed to bring everyone together for a fun-filled day.
The Forster Community Centre and Forster Library were buzzing with activity, with people enjoying face painting, craft, the jumping castle, Bunnings DIY stall, fashion parade, lucky door prizes, live entertainment, a free barbecue lunch and more!
Together!Day was also an opportunity for people to find out more about the wide range of services offered by MidCoast Council’s Ageing and Disability Services team.
Information sessions were held throughout the day about the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), changes to Home Care Packages through My Aged Care, disability advocacy and dementia support.
“It was a fantastic day all-round and it was great to see so many of our clients and other members of the community both enjoying themselves and finding out more about our services. We’re looking forward to bringing Together!Day to the Taree community on Tuesday, April 11, so stay tuned for more details,” said Liz Green, MidCoast Council’s Ageing and Disability Services coordinator.
The day ended with the announcement of the Together!Day photo competition winners, who were asked to submit a photo and caption that showed what togetherness means to them.
The overall winner was Jacky Temple who took home an iPad Mini and the People’s Choice Award went to Brooke Hawes who won an Endota Spa facial and Sanity Gift pack.
