Late last year Tennis NSW rated all state tennis clubs in categories which included many of TNSW’s programs such as Cardio Tennis and Hot Shots, the total number of club members and whetherthey were becoming members of TNSW online.
They then named and rewarded the top 20 clubs.
Forster Tennis Club came out on top.
We were closely followed by a town near the Victorian border.
Club committees of the two towns were invited to have a tour of the whole complex in Homebush and to watch the final men’s doubles and singles matches from a private box in the main arena.
The tour was very interesting and we even paraded down the passageway lined with photos of winners - onto the main court - a tingly experience.
We saw the players’ lounge all the work areas on the lower levels and learned that there is a massive fan in the depths that cools the main court surface.
We even saw LLeyton Hewitt collecting his racquet from the re-stringer just before his Fast 4 match with Mark Phillipoussis.
Our successful top 20 rating was a result of the work of our talented coach, Jaime McDonogh, who delivers the programs; the contributions of the many volunteers who work constantly to keep our club at the forefront in every aspect - especially at tournament time and a dedicated committee that keeps all aspects of the business on track.
