Bulahdelah Central School and Forster Public School will receive $809,548 and $1,121,351, respectively.
Local member Stephen Bromhead said the NSW Government was delivering on its commitment to deliver additional school funding based on student need.”
“These extra resources go directly to our Myall Lakes schools allowing principals to better meet the unique needs of their students and the school community.
“I have seen schools in the Myall Lakes electorate employ additional teachers with expertise to assist students who need extra support in key learning areas like literacy and numeracy.”
In NSW public schools, needs-based funding is distributed under the Resource Allocation Model (RAM), which uses information about student need to deliver resources where they are needed most, consistent with the Gonski recommendations.
Since 2014 public schools across NSW have received $504 million in extra funding helped by the NSW Liberals & Nationals Government signing up to the Gonski agreement.
“More funding than ever is going directly to schools so principals are able to target resources and better meet the needs of their students,” Education Minister Adrian Piccoli said.
“We are seeing schools engage specialist teachers and additional staff with expertise in areas such as literacy, numeracy and speech pathology to tailor support and respond to the unique learning needs of their students.
“Every time I visit a school I am very impressed to see first-hand the programs and initiatives made possible by needs-based funding and how they are making a real difference student by student, school by school.”
