Just a couple of weeks ago we hosted our annual jazz concert, performed by Jazz Fine and Mellow.
A great night, which drew a very appreciative crowd of 60 people.
We’re also in the middle of running a series of HSC nights, which have been really well received by local students.
We also run a very popular series of school holiday activities, including a visit from Whizzy the Waterdrop and hosting a highly entertaining magician.
Just around the corner the wonderful Friends of the Great Lakes Library will be running one of their member’s only morning teas.
This will be on Monday, October 31 and will feature guest speaker, Paul Kimberley.
Paul will be talking on the history of computers.
Should be fascinating and the morning teas are always a treat.
But what if you aren’t a member?
Easy.
Just turn up.
You can join on the day and the membership fee is really really modest.
Besides, it’s the best Library Friends group ever and being part of the wonderful social network is a reward for membership in itself.
Also, remember that we run a whole range of great programs out of many of our libraries.
This includes storytime programs, knitting groups, Homework Help, a Mobile Device Support Group, film showings, a writers group, the family history service and the Friends bookclub.
It’s also worth remembering that we offer a reading support service (totally free) through our Better Reading Better Communities program.
So, if you know someone who needs some assistance in improving their reading skills contact the library to find out about our great network of reading support tutors.
Oh, and if you also know someone who can’t get to the library for mobility reasons do suggest they speak to us about our free home library service.
And, finally, a head’s up for holidays.
We will be launching our summer reading program on December 1 and we’re also planning some great school holiday activities.
Fun in the sun and fun in the libraries.
Maybe even a combo of both.
See you there.
