NSW disability advocacy organisation, Family Advocacy, will be holding a one day workshop next Thursday (October 27) to talk with families of children who have a disability.

The workshop aims to inform parents of the lifelong benefits of being schooled in the regular classes alongside same aged peers.

This is often an option that parents either hear little about or they hear only the hardship stories, we aim to give parents the facts and the strategies and ideas to bring about authentic inclusion at school based in evidence,  Family Advocacy, advocacy and leadership development’s Karen Tippett said.

Many parents are fearful and unsure of what the evidence is supporting this school setting and also what they can expect from educators.

A parent whose daughter is attending her local school in the regular class will talk about the adjustments that are being made, the experiences she is having and the friends she is developing.

There is much policy and support for authentic school inclusion so join the conversation and you will not be disappointed.
