A different concept was used for this regatta with each 20 seat boat only allowed 10 paddlers.
The Pearls entered five squads in the regatta with all going to either the semifinal or finals stage.
The open 10s came third in their final.
On the weekend of November 19 and 20 this hospitality will be returned when the Great Lakes Pearl Dragons host their fifth annual regatta at Forster Keys.
A huge weekend is expected with the Pearls playing host to approximately 16 sports teams from the Illawarra region in the south to as far as Grafton in the north.
The expansion of the regatta this year to two full days of competition, is due in part to a grant from the NSW government, under the Local Sport Grant program.
This grant has allowed the community teams to have a stand-alone program on the Saturday.
The community teams will compete against one another in the morning while in the afternoon the sports teams will compete in the 500 metre and two kilometre turn races.
Sunday will be a full program of sports teams competing in the fast and furious 200 metre races.
Entries are invited from local community groups, businesses and sports clubs.
This is an ideal opportunity to team build, promote your business or group to the wider community while enjoying the thrill of dragon boating.
