Held at Maroubra from September 4-6, the NSW team won eight out of the nine Australian trophies on offer.
Lyndon, who shoots locally at the Wingham Rifle Club, shot 196 out of 200 at the championships – “pretty impressive for a junior”, according to Wingham Rifle Club veteran Tony Moon.
Tony said Lyndon’s strong shooting talent was a family trait, with his sister, father and grandfather also awarded shooters.
Lyndon, who recently finished schooling at St Clare’s in Taree, only began seriously shooting about two years ago.
The senior state side, under the captaincy of Tony, enjoyed similar success, winning six out of eight national trophies on offer.
Tony said the Wingham club was doing “very well” at the moment, with a strong core of members.
Coast to country rugby carnival

The Forster Tuncurry Dolphins concluded their finest season since the 2004 resurrection of rugby union in the Great Lakes by hosting a resoundingly successful 400 schoolboy Coast to Country Cup carnival at Peter Barclay Field, Tuncurry, last week.
Rugby players of 16 years and under 14s age groups from 22 schools from across the state swarmed into town for the day-long carnival.
In continuing its policy to find and develop players from all over NSW by staging the schoolboy carnival for a sixth season, the NSW Rugby Union could never regret its decision to hold it in the Great Lakes for a fourth successive year.
“Outstanding carnival again, a superb locality and splendid facilities,” said Andrew Hill, general manager of Rugby Development for the NSW Waratahs, at the carnival’s conclusion across the four-ground Harry Elliott complex, attended by 15 NSW development officers and 12 auxiliary staff.
The highlight of the day was the 5-0 win by Edmund Rice College in an engrossing 16-and- under final against Farrer Agricultural College (Tamworth) with captain and five-eighth, Joseph Dickson, crossing for a blind-side try two minutes from the final whistle.
It was an especially gratifying occasion for the team’s young coach, Steven Sunderland, who in his fourth season as coach witnessed the boys complete their fourth win of the day from as many games without conceding a try.
The host club, the Dolphins, will hold their presentation night at their major sponsor, the Tuncurry Beach Bowling Club, on October 8.
