Wallis Lake ran out 4-1 winners, producing quality football across the park in a dominant display.
The match began with Wallis on the back foot, conceding several early fouls within shooting range, which fortunately were all hit directly at the keeper.
Wallis managed to settle in possession for large portions of the first half, happy to pass the ball around and let the Rangers do all the chasing.
The deadlock was broken after 20 minutes, with Jayden Carmody playing a cutting ball through into the box, Jarrod Naylor turning on the ball and driving the ball in off the post. The lead was doubled shortly after, Josh Walpole found himself open on the penalty spot, and hammered home to leave the scores at 2-0.
A flurry of 8 or 9 shots by Wallis captain, Chris Cheers all failed to hit the target before the break, and the scores remained this way up until half time.
The second half injected some energy into the Macleay Valley side, relying on counter attacking football and throwing numbers up to produce several chances.
One such chance came to fruition, when a Rangers’ winger dribbled into the box, and drove the ball through the legs of the Wallis keeper, the scoreboard alive at 2-1.
Wallis showed their class, and the reason they were Premiers over the regular season, knocking in two more goals to wrap the game up at 4-1. The third goal secured the brace for man-of- the-match Jarrod Naylor, assisted again by Jayden Carmody. Naylor made a darting run to the far post, Carmody hit a pin-point cross, which was buried and the lead doubled once again.
The fourth and final goal was an excellent effort from Blake Clark, beating the keeper to the ball, knocking it past him and passing the ball into an unmanned net. Wallis consolidated the victory in the final twenty minutes, not relenting in their attacks and were unlucky not to extend their lead.
Wallis Lake Reserves also did the double in the competition, securing the Premiers plate with four games remaining and rounding out the season with the romping win on Saturday afternoon.
The club would like to acknowledge all their players, coaches, support staff, supporters and sponsors, without who, would not be the success they have been this season.
