A broken sewer line at Forster Keys led to the erection of a ‘No Swimming’ sign by MidCoast Water staff on Monday.
The placement of the precautionary sign was undertaken following a small sewer overflow from a broken sewer line in the King George Parade area.
A member of the community alerted MidCoast Water to the issue early on Monday morning and crews were on site quickly to turn off the associated pumping station and isolate the break before undertaking repairs.
Signs were placed on the Sailfish Waterway as a precaution while MidCoast Water undertook water testing.
Results have indicated that any impact of the overflow is only minor and is localised to this area.
Staff will continue to monitor the water quality in the area and expect the signs to be removed within days.
