Forster Surf Life Saving club’s Laura Thurtell and Black Head Surf Life Saving Club’s Noelene Young will take up positions in the Over 50s and Over 60s age events respectively.
The event is held every two years and involves between 2500 to 5000 competitors over 14 days.
Thurtell will compete in the pool rescue events including a 200 metre obstacle swim and mannequin swims. Both women will compete in the ocean competition, on ski, board, surf, and iron lady.
“I’ve no idea how it will go. It might be a bit chilly!” Thurtell said.
Heading over on holiday, Young said “It’s just a matter of luck with ocean racing. It’s very hard with a flat start, there’s no surf to help.”
