Four premierships in four years will be the target.
There is certainly no over confidence in the club with the 21-15 semifinal victory serving as more of a wake-up call.
In the three previous meetings between the two clubs this year the Dolphins had conceded only two tries.
However, in a performance that was described as lethargic and after leading 18-0, the Dolphins finished up scoring two tries to Wallamba’s three and it was only the three penalty goals to Lee Crozier that finally proved the difference.
In a pack which uncharacteristically missed too many tackles, the work rate of flankers Tom Homer and Tom Harris stood out. Lee Crozier’s accurate throwing and Jack Wood’s jumping helped to dominate the line-outs.
We will be looking for these players to get more support in the grand final.
Our grand final opponents will be decided next weekend when the Wallamba Bulls tackle the Manning River Ratz in the final at Nabiac.
While it would be expected that the all round class and experience of the Bulls will get them through, the Ratz can be expected to play a very physical game and certainly apply early pressure.
A few carryover bumps and bruises won’t hurt our cause.
The grand final will be played at Peter Barclay Fields, North Tuncurry on Saturday, August 27 with kick-off to be at 3pm.
For the finals series there is a $5 gate charge which goes to the Mid-North Coast Rugby Union.
We would love to see as many sponsors as possible at the game.
To show our appreciation to our sponsors, we will be providing those who attend with complimentary refreshments.
Just see the canteen volunteers when you arrive and this will be organised. Hope to see you there.
