As Local Government Week celebrations start on Monday (August 1) it’s the perfect time to reflect on the breadth of quality services and facilities available within our great community.
Travelling to work, walking the dog, playing weekend sport, borrowing a book, putting the rubbish out, using the playground, visiting the art gallery, or enjoying a picnic at the beach… these are some of the things we do week-in, week-out.
They’re the things we can enjoy here in the MidCoast Council region without a second thought.
These are the services council is committed to providing to its community to make the region a fantastic place to live and to work.
And as a newly formed council, there are now more reasons than ever to celebrate Local Government Week.
The team at MidCoast Council have been busy preparing a full program of exciting activities to suit people of all ages.
Kicking off on Monday everyone is invited to meet the members of MidCoast Council’s Local Representative Committee (LRC) at 10am in the Forster library.
This is a great chance to put faces to names, catch up over morning tea, and discuss how committee members will represent your local communities.
Morning tea with the LRC is also scheduled for 10am on Tuesday at Gloucester library, and 10am Thursday at Taree library.
“Local Government Week is a great platform for us to remind our community that we’re much more than just roads, rates and rubbish”, corporate and business systems director, Steve Embry said.
“This year’s celebration comes at a good time, when our key priority is to get to know and understand our diverse community, and build confidence in the new council”.
Local Government Week activities will take place throughout the MidCoast Council region, and include behind-the-scenes opportunities such as guided tours of the award-winning Cattai Wetlands, the Kolodong works depot, and the Manning Regional Art Gallery.
Visit midcoast.nsw.gov.au for the full program of events, and where applicable, for details of how to reserve your place.
Local Government Week runs 1 – 7 August 2016 and is a Local Government NSW initiative.
