The event will take place from tomorrow, Friday to Sunday, July 31 at the Taree Hockey Complex.
Hockey is a popular and thriving sport in the Manning Valley and MidCoast Council is proud to have worked in partnership with Hockey NSW and the Manning Valley Hockey Association to secure four of these major events,
This will be the second of these major tournaments to take place in the region this year.
Taree last month hosted the under 15 Girl’s State Hockey Championships, while two State championships have been booked for 2017 and 2018.
MidCoast Council tourism, events and communications team leader, (Taree), Donna Hudson, is looking forward to welcoming coaches, officials, participants and their families to the region for what is sure to be a fabulous event.
“We’ll be welcoming over 900 players to the Manning this weekend which is a great opportunity to showcase the strength of hockey in our region,” she said.
“It’s also a welcome boost for our local tourism industry and our local economy.”
President of the Manning Valley Hockey Association, Craig Colvin, is also excited about the Half State Masters over the weekend.
“It’s been a great year for hockey so far and we’re sure this will continue over the weekend,” he said.
“We appreciate the support by both MidCoast Council and Hockey NSW to bring the event to Taree and on behalf of the association I’d like to wish all competitors the best of luck over the weekend.
Great Lakes Strikers women's hockey team- members, Gloria Smith, Sally Hunt, Marlene Masters, Cathy Groth and Jane McNeill, will be playing representative games this weekend.
