Many would have seen Rick’s prominent public sculptures in the Manning and Hastings’ communities.

In 2000 Rick won the Taree Bicentenary Committee competition and was commissioned to create a sculpture for the main street of Taree.

The towering powder coated steel sculpture titled Balancing Act, stands tall in Taree’s town centre and features a woman’s figure supporting a man and three children.

Rick also created a Flood Markers installation in the Camden Haven region to both enhance the local landscape and raise awareness of the impacts of flooding in the area.

His design of these four metre high markers included carved numerals to indicate the height above sea level, along with fish sculptures which are symbolic of the sea change lifestyle of the area.

MidCoast Council acting art gallery director, Rachel Piercy, is excited to have Rick’s works on display at the gallery.

“This will be an amazing exhibition featuring the very best of Rick’s sculptures and paintings from his 40 year career,” Rachel said.

The shrine of the knot and other stories will officially open with an event from 2pm on Saturday, July 30 where you can expect nibbles, wine, and a guided tour of the exhibition with the man of the hour, Rick Reynolds.

Entry to the opening is $10 or $7 for Friends of the Gallery (FOGs) members and RSVPs are required by today.

The opening is a fundraising event for The Friends of the Manning Regional Art Gallery and your entry fee contributes to their continuing support of the Gallery.

The exhibition will run from today (July 27) until  Sunday, September 11, and will be open during normal gallery hours from Wednesday to Saturday 10am to 4pm and Sunday 1pm to 4pm.  Visit www.manningregionalartgallery.com.au for more information.
