The Wildcats’ run-on side was minus regular keeper Piet Goss, but included former NPL stand-out Callan Lewis.
The Tigers rode their luck early when Howard made a run into the penalty area, only to be felled by Jason Ward, with the referee waving away the home side’s calls for a penalty. At around 25 minutes the Tigers grabbed the lead with captain Mitch Minors turning his man and driving a superb low shot past Josh Ferris.
This set the Wildcats back and the Tigers should have extended their lead, but most of the efforts on goal went straight into the keeper’s waiting arms.
At 35 minutes the Wildcats drew level after Ricky Campbell squared the ball to an unmarked Jackson Witts who finished well past James McBride. This lifted the Wildcats.
The final score Taree Wildcats 4 TFFC 1. Full report on Great Lakes website.
