And now it's official – the Great Lakes has the best accommodation in Australia . Well, almost.
Last month Beaches International, Forster was judged the second best accommodation by Star Ratings Australia (formerly known as AAA) in the serviced apartments category.
At the same time this locally owned and operated business was ranked in the prestigious gold list.
Business owner, Greg Randall was over the moon when he learned of Beaches’ success. “The fact we came second in Australia is just terrific,” Mr Randall said.
What makes the Gold List unique is that Star Ratings Australia doesn’t just look at traveller ratings on one website but collects data from multiple sources so in each case many consumer voices are converted to one accommodation score, and scores are then ranked to produce a definitive list of Australia.
The rating represents online guest reviews from more than 100 websites such as Tripadvisor, Booking.com, Wotif, Expedia, Agoda, Hotels.com, Facebook, Orbitz, Google and Ratestogo in 45 different languages.
The businesses are judged by those who have experienced the product - the consumer.
Mr Randall, who has been at the helm for the past 15 years, acknowledged his staff, who he said did a top notch job.
“We work as a team and they do a great job.”
He said apart from the waterviews from every site, the apartments were beautifully appointed and spotlessly clean.
He also attributed the success to his passion for what he does. “I love what I do; it is the best job in Australia.”
Sharon Bultitude from The Great Lakes Visitors Centre said it is a tremendous win for our beautiful region and it enhances what we have to offer in the Great Lakes area.
One guest wrote that “rooms were immaculate and had the perfect beach views. We had perfect weather and a perfect storm which was weathered from the comfort of a lovely apartment.”
