Earlier in the day the team played the Great Lakes under 15s in the semifinal and won despite an injury to Brooke Berg which forced a team change with Taleesha Black moving from attack to defence.

The  under 17s, coached by Brenda Nixon and managed by Wendy Melzer,  is a blended team of players from the previous state under 17s and upcoming state age under15s teams.

Before the girls’ win against Woolgoolga they had played at two representative carnivals with success.

The team has one more carnival and some training sessions to attend before heading to Newcastle for the state championships in June. 

All players are showing their many talents throughout the court, with Ellie Johnston, Phoebe-Eve Hill and Taleesha Black working strongly together in the goal circle with both their skill and shots being shown.

In midcourt Anika Hudson, Claire Horn, Tully Church and Jess McCarthy are intercepting, chasing and showing their immense determination in covering all areas of both the court and their opposing players and having the never give up attitude.

Helped along with strong defence work from Chelsea Herb, Brooke Berg and Mia Williams the team is showing promising strength ahead.

The team plays on Monday nights in Taree, Tuesday nights in the Great Lakes Association division one competition, representative trainings and fitness on Wednesday nights.

Most of the girls train and play with their home club during the week, a commitment which shows their character and passion for the game of netball and each other.
