The 26-year-old woman was travelling north along Windang Road when her vehicle came into trouble and stopped about 6pm.
Police have been told the woman stopped near the intersection of Primbee Deviation Road when a white ute, driven by a man and with two male passengers, pulled up alongside her vehicle.
According to a police statement, one of the men pushed the woman to the ground before two of them got into her car and drove off. The third man took her wallet and fled in the ute.
The woman was uninjured and contacted police, who attended a short time later.
Officers attached to Lake Illawarra Local Area Command searched the area and found the woman’s vehicle abandoned in a car park on King Street in Warrawong.
Police would like to speak to three men who may be able to assist them.
The first man is described as being in his early to mid-20s, of slim build, about 168cm tall, with a rat's tail plait. He was seen wearing a light coloured T-shirt, dark coloured shorts, black cap and Kmart-brand white joggers.
The second man is described as being in his early to mid-20s, of muscular build, about 183cm tall, with blond hair, red stubble on his face, an owl tattooed on his left forearm, a scar on his right eyebrow, with no hair where the scar is.
He was seen wearing a hi-visibility shirt, dark-blue shorts and boots. He may possibly go by the name Aaron.
The third man is described as being in his early to mid-20s, of chubby build, about 175cm tall with sleeve tattoos covering both arms - on the right arm a tattoo of a pin-up girl and on the left arm a dragon with a fishtail.
He was also seen to have a 'Good' and 'Bad' tattoo on his fingers and was seen wearing rings on most fingers, a hi-visibility shirt with dark shorts, boots and an Adidas belt.
The ute in the incident is described as being an older model white Mitsubishi Triton with an aluminium tray, a toolbox and a PVC pipe on the roof, and a fishing sticker on the rear of the tray.
Any witnesses are also urged to come forward and contact Lake Illawarra Police via Crime Stoppers.
