Lochie Hinds of Sydney took the overall line honours in both of the races while the leading female in both was Carolyn Turnham from Port Macquarie.
It was on for young and old throughout the day, with nine of the top 10 in the 1500m race being either under the age of 15 or over the age of 50.
Turnham's legacy at the event continues to grow after taking out both races in last year's event. The defending champion was pushed in both races, with the 700m swim proving to be a very tightly contested race. Turnham (8 minutes 35 seconds) defeated Taylor Sargeant (8:38) by a narrow three second margin. Anne Kirkwood (9:33) followed them in third place.
Just 20 seconds separated the top three women in the 1500m race. Turnham (22:55) once again edged Sargeant (23.12), who also had to fight off a big challenge from Katarina Kladis (23:15).
The 700m race saw Hinds (7:38) lead the field across the finish line in the men's overall category ahead of Julian Boag (7:50). Max Milligan (7:57) rounded out the top three.
It was Hinds (20:24) who once again triumphed in the 1500m race. This time, however, Milligan (20:55) managed to turn the screws on Boag (21:08) and take out second place.
The day consisted of a 700m ocean swim and a 1500m ocean swim. There were 46 competitors who participated in the 700m race and 64 in the 1500m race. A number competed in both of the events.
