Fire and rescue crews have freed two elderly women trapped in a car that crashed into a house in Sydney's west on Tuesday afternoon.

Emergency services worked to extricate the two women from the car that ploughed into the two-storey house on Dalbar Place in Carlingford just before 2.15pm.
The driver was reportedly freed first followed by the passenger. Both women were being treated by paramedics.

One woman reportedly has arm injuries, and the other has chest injuries, a spokesperson for NSW Ambulance said.
The car remains buried under the collapsed house, after Fire and Rescue crew worked to stabilised the structure of the building before they freed the women, a spokeswoman for the NSW Fire and Rescue Service said.

A rescue helicopter had landed in a nearby park to assist.
It is not known if anyone was in the house at the time of the crash.
