Mark Jensen and his border collie Ty, together known as Team Ty, ran from Forster Tuncurry Bridge to Taree's Martin Bridge for the Stroke Recovery Foundation on Sunday.
With the support of the Tuncurry Beach Bowling Club, who set up a raffle, the team raised $1032 for the foundation.
“We're a little sore and stiff tonight,” Mark said after the run.
“But the run went well. It was cold, dark and wet when we left Forster, but the sun came out towards the end of the Lakes Way.
“Running with wet shoes and socks has left me with a large blister under my right foot, about the size of a 50 cent piece.
“The last several miles of running was agony with this blister growing. But we hobbled to the end.”
Mark said he was surprised to see road works still going on along Lakes Way.
He said parts of the road were a mess and that they were re-doing the same repairs when Mark and Ty ran the Bridge to Bridge three years ago.
“Running today's event for the Stroke Recovery Foundation gave us a sense of achievement and personal pride,” he said.
“We are proud to be able to give something back to our small community from time to time.
“We have created memories running this course over the past three years, memories we will carry with us for the rest of our lives.”
The run was also Ty's 21st official long distance running event, a record Mark doubts will ever be surpassed.
“It has been a real pleasure to have been able to be a part of the Stroke Recovery Foundation, fundraising efforts this year,” Mark said.
“Tuncurry Beach Bowling Club has supported the Forster to Taree Bridge to Bridge for three years now, since its inaugural in 2013.
“There's even talk of putting together a Bridge to Bridge next year. I'd like to see that.”
