As well as Australian films, this year’s 16 Festival winners include shorts from UK, Canada, US, and Ireland.
A group of local judges have helped cut down the 200-odd entries to 18 winners, ranging in length from one minute to 15 minutes each. Mainly rated M comedies, the show lasts two hours.
The winner of the first prize of $1000 will be selected by the audience, who will be given the opportunity to vote at the end of each screening. Another $2000 will be distributed among the remaining 15 filmmakers.
Forster Film Festival levels the playing field for independent film makers, encouraging creativity, originality and positive life-affirming filmmaking.
Australian producer Kelly Broad, who worked with fellow Australian director Hattie Dalton, said she was excited to have her film One Of Those Days selected for the festival. We’ve all had ‘one of those days’ when nothing seems to be going right, when life seems to be dealing you one poor hand after another. For the film’s lead actor, Sir Derek Jacobi, remembered for his role in the highly acclaimed series I Claudius, this day happens on Judgement Day.
There are screenings on Saturday and Sunday at 4pm and 8pm, and Monday at 4pm only.
Tickets are $15 and are available at Forster Tourist Information Centre and Great Lakes Library.
