TFFC’s under-16 side was up first against the Vikings.
After a tight first half that saw the Vikings open the scoring just before half time, the Tigers fought hard but couldn’t keep the Vikings out, eventually going down 6-0.
The table-topping under-17/18 Tigers Black side was up next against Old Bar, and despite starting very strongly was unable to convert possession into goals.
As the game wound on it became clear that one goal and a slice of luck would win it, and so it proved when Old Bar broke the deadlock from a long range free kick that the Tigers defence was unable to deal with. After surviving a penalty miss, and despite hammering the Old Bar goal for the last 10 minutes of the game, the Tigers were unable to find the back of the net and ended up the wrong side of a 1-0 score.
The Tigers 18s live to fight another day though, with a Zone Championship to be contested this coming weekend against Kempsey Saints under-18s at the Port Macquarie Stadium.
On Saturday TFFC’s under-12 Black wereup first, against season-long rivals Pacific Palms.
An entertaining game saw the Tigers show a bit too much class for their opponent, running out clear winners four goals to one.
The team was also named Club Champions at the Junior Presentation the following day, adding the Grand Final Champions title to their 2015 Premiership.
The under-14 grand final was the next match to feature a TFFC side, with the 14's Black team up against premiers Wingham.
Despite a clear size and strength advantage, the Tigers outplayed the Warriors.
A fantastic second half fight back saw the Tigers score four unanswered goals to finish as Champions 5-2. The final match of the day saw close rivals under-15 Tigers Black and Hallidays Point do battle.
After an excellent save from Kyle Ragno in the first 10 minutes, the Tigers gradually built pressure on the Barracudas goal, with Logan Wilkins and Jesse Schilpzand both scoring to give the Tigers a 2-0 win.
TFFC’s Junior sides had a successful 2015, 11 of 12 competitive age teams from under-12s through to under 17/18s qualified for semi final series, and featured in five of seven grand finals for these age groups, winning three of the five matches.
TFFC finished on top of the table at the end of the regular season in the under-12s, under-15s and under-17/18s.
Coupled with a solid return to Premier League in the seniors, which saw the Reserve Grade side make the second week of the finals series, a run to the third round of the FFA Cup, and a great win in the over 35s’ grand final, 2015 was a great year for TFFC overall.
After a short break, TFFC will resume its summer program at the beginning of November, with training and team selection for the annual trial day with NNSW Football National Premier League club Broadmeadow Magic FC.
The final date for this fantastic day of junior football has yet to be confirmed, but will take place either late in November or the first weekend of December.
