The one thing that Tuncurry's resident trainer, Terry Evans, wants to see is plenty of Chaos at the finish of the TJL Business Advisors Class One and Maiden (2100m).
Evans believes that his New Zealand bred five-year-old called Chaos is getting up to his right distance and his chances have been improved with Robert Thompson taking the ride.
Chaos is one of six horses Evans will start at the meeting on the state's newest and what many trainers are coming to regard as one of the best country tracks in the state.
Evans bought Chaos on the recommendation of a friend and blood stock agent and put together a syndicate of friends, some who live locally and others that live in Sydney.
"They will all be here on Saturday," Evans said.
"The Sydney guys are bringing their families up for a weekend away."
Evans is putting the blinkers back on Chaos after his last start sixth over 1850 metres at Newcastle on the recommendation of Andrew Gibbons who rode him.
"Andrew said the horse seemed to lose interest at the turn then grabbed the bit again and charged home and it was only that his fitness gave out that he did not win," Evans said.
"He took a lot of benefit from that run.
"He is going to be a far better horse next preparation after he settles in and we get to know him better."
Evans and Thompson also combine with last start winner Arise Augustus in the Tooheys XXXX Gold Benchmark 50 (1200m).
Thompson rode the horse for the first time when he won a Class One at Coffs Harbour earlier this month and agreed to stick with the horse at Tuncurry.
"It was a good win and helped get his benchmark up which is something I have been trying to do for some time.
"He kept getting balloted out of races or made an emergency and I just couldn't get enough racing into him.
"Another win will help solve that problem."
Tuncurry has had good weather throughout the week with the track rated a goods four.
"The track looks fantastic," Evans said.
"I have seen a lot of race tracks in my time and this is one of the best.
"It is spacious and horses get every chance from whatever barrier they jump from."
