Rotary Club of Great Lakes is staging Opera by the Lake on March 19, 2016 in John Wright Park, Tuncurry, featuring a boutique Sydney opera company, Opera Bites.

Sponsors in various categories are needed to fund various aspects of the project including

performers remuneration, stage/change room facilities,  accommodation for five performers for two nights(Friday and Saturday), accommodation for one night for a sound technician, audience seating (1000 plus), security fencing and an overnight security guard and a storage truck.  Sponsorship packages are available in kind, as a supporter for $200, bronze for $750, silver for $1500, gold for $3300 and platinum for $4900.  Each package includes bonuses at the event.

The event will support not-for-profit organisations Riding for Disabled and The Great Lakes Hospice.

“I would like to pass our thanks to those people who are already supporting us financially but we have many expenses with staging an event of this magnitude.  It is our vision that this will be an annual event which out-of-season tourists and locals will want to attend year in, year out.  If the support for this type of event to date is any gauge, I believe we will have a solid platform to develop this cultural event further in the future.,” Rotary Club President Brian Bruton said.

Tickets will be available  online through Great Lakes Tourism and at tourist information centres from July 20.  Some accommodation providers and restaurants are already booked out by Coach Tour Operators. 

Brian said he believed there would no doubt be a flow on effect for other local businesses in the Great Lakes and Manning Regions.

“We have pre-booking for 55 per cent of available seats,” he said.
