Forster resident Denis Burns is a case in point. Denis is multi talented. He is a casual teacher at Tuncurry Public School and is also a qualified minister. Rev Denis Burns has pastored churches in Young, Taree and Wallsend and filled in on an interim basis at a number of other churches including Forster.
Denis in his early days was a very talented cricketer, having played first grade for Randwick. Denis recounts playing against the likes of Jeff Thompson and Len Pascoe in his grade days. No helmets then.
Back to cars. Denis’ taste is wide and varied.
Over the years he has owned a Morris Minor, a Fiat 1800, a Renault R8, a VW Golf, a Morris Mini, an MGA, MGY Tourer and MGBGT. Not to mention other mundane Japanese and Korean wheels. But a couple of years ago he saw the light and moved away from MG to the world’s biggest selling sports car - the mighty Mazda MX5.
Denis uses the MX5 as his everyday transport. He tells me he loves to drive his little Japanese classic. Wind in the hair and beard, there’s nothing like it.
