Jess Hogg has her heart set on running the Melbourne Marathon for her dad.
The 25-year-old athlete had planned on tackling the grueling 42-kilometre race with her father Peter beside her, but now she will run alone.
She is using the run to raise funds for the Heart Foundation after the Hogg family was shocked when Peter, an avid runner, died suddenly from heart failure on April 19.
The 53-year-old Warrnambool man left behind daughters Alyce, Jess and Georgia and his wife Chris. ‘‘He was a very fit man,’’ Jess Hogg said.
“He ran 10 marathons, one of which we did together last year. He was also into martial arts and was a black belt.
‘‘He did everything for us. He loved his girls and he loved mum.’’ MORE.
