A myriad of printed shirts with various colours and indigenous prints were set against a backdrop of bright blue sky. Conditions were perfect for a day of competitive sports including darts and various ball games.
"What a fantastic day, with so many people!" said Brett Cowling, CEO of Biripi Aboriginal Medical Service (Biripi AMS).
"I wish you all a safe and happy day, as many nations get together as one."
Mayor Paul Hogan welcomed the crowd and thanked all the competitors and support crews.
Being in their home country the Biripi Sharks led the opening parade.
In its eighth year the event attracts teams of elders from the Blue Mountains, Forster, Moree, Tamworth and the Tablelands, Newcastle, the Central Coast and Coffs Harbour.
