"Residents will see trucks collecting green waste from the neighbourhood. This collection is to remove all of the green waste left by the SES, Essential Energy and Council. This will help return the area to normal," said council's local emergency management officer, Mr Andrew Blatch.
"We are appealing for the assistance of residents to dispose of their green waste themselves wherever possible, by taking it to the Tea Gardens waste transfer station. Council has waived the disposal fees for any storm related green waste."
These clean-up measures are purely for storm damaged green waste and are not intended for the removal of general garden rubbish such as pruning and lawn clippings.
Bulky Goods Waste Collection
Council's annual bulky goods collection has already been scheduled to commence in the Tea Gardens/Hawks Nest area from Monday June 1 through to Friday June 5.
"We are asking residents to wait until the storm damage clean-up is completed before you begin to put out your old bulky goods for collection," Mr Blatch said.
