Residents, members of the Great Lakes Knitting Nannas Against Coal Seam Gas were joined by Great Lakes Councillor Linda Gill in lining the highway from the Buckets Way up to Taree.
“We had locals at the Buckets Way, Tea Gardens Hawks Nest turn off, Bulahdelah, Wootton, Coolongolook, Nabiac and Failford turn off and went all the way to Taree,” Cr Gill said.
“The objective was to attract the attention of families heading home on the final weekend of the school holidays and to get a conversation going with the broader community about coal seam gas.
“Many travellers stopped to find out about the demonstration, coal seam gas and were really impressed with the level of commitment and how far the demonstration went.
“The tooting thumbs up and support was quite overwhelming and clearly showed that the community at large are not supportive of the coal seam gas industry and its impacts on our community and environment.”
