Organised by the Forster Triathlon Club, the picturesque course starts behind Gloria Jeans on Memorial Drive, heads under the Forster Tuncurry Traffic Bridge, along the marina and the breakwall before continuing along the gravel track to the Forster Surf Club and the beachfront to the Bullring.
Runners will then head up North St and into the reserve to the playground before returning back along the same route to finish at Gloria Jeans.
As well as a large local representation, the race traditionally draws runners from all over NSW with previous winners hailing from Tamworth, Sydney, and Gunnedah.
This year’s race features a variety of age groups and cash prizes for male and female overall placegetters from first to third and for each male and female age group winner (for each 10-year age group).
Prizes will also be awarded for the best-dressed runner as well as plenty of lucky draw prizes after the race.
The Gloria Jeans 5km Run for Fun will be held on Sunday April 12 at 7.30am. Entries are $15 ($7 from each entry will go to the Rural Fire Service). To enter or for more information visit: http://forstertriclub.com.au
