Head lice: Busting the myths so we can nab those nits

The beginning of the school year inevitably brings a barrage of permission slips, notes and newsletters. Excursions, canteen menus, uniform policies ... and head lice.  It's enough to make any parent's scalp crawl.  And with Australian data showing that in any given primary school, roughly one quarter of all pupils are likely to have head lice, that itch just gets a little stronger. But the message from experts is to stop freaking out. Nits are, quite frankly, a microscopic problem.
