Hosted by Pacific Palms Surf Life Saving Club, crews from Sydney up to Woolgoolga will be battling it out for $8000 in prize money on Saturday February 28 and Sunday March 1.
Club member and carnival organiser Jerrad Allen said just over 150 crews had confirmed their attendance so far.
With racing in eight age categories, each crew will have five rounds across the two days with finals of all categories to be held on the Sunday afternoon.
The ever popular Tim Knight Club Relay consisting of one men’s, one women’s and one junior crew, will be held on the Saturday.
Pacific Palms Surf Life Saving Club president Kel McCredie said this year’s event would also be a fundraiser for former club member Rob Scott who was struck in the head while visiting Fresno in the US last year. Mr Scott is currently in a special unit for brain injuries at a rehabilitation centre in Ryde.
“We’ve put the price up a little on the entry fee and that money will go towards Rob’s rehabilitation. We’ll also be selling oysters and prawns and will be going around with buckets to collect donations for his foundation so we hope everyone will support it.”
The under 19s race will be called ‘Robbo’s Race’ as a dedication to Rob and his family.
The event will get underway from 7.30am Saturday and 7am Sunday.
