Great Lakes Councillor Linda Gill moved the motion but it was only supported by Crs Leigh Vaughan and John Weate.
“I believe it is time for Great Lakes Council to take a strong stand and oppose the development of CSG in our area.
“The next phase of the Gloucester Gas Project will soon begin within the Great Lakes area. Energy company AGL is set to explore the Wards River area in the coming months,” Cr Gill said.
A subsequent motion was passed to discuss MidCoast Water’s position statement on extractive industries at the next ordinary meeting with the possibility of adopting it as a council position on CSG.
