MEMBERS and visitors of the Club Forster Bluewater Fishing Club enjoyed a new 30-hour fishing trial as part of the club’s monthly competition recently.

Over the weekend, 132 members and four visitors took part in the trial which saw anglers start at 6am on Saturday and go through to noon on Sunday. Participants caught a total of 302 fish weighing in at 182.610kgs.
Participants can fish any time during the 30 hour period but need to be in the harbour by noon on the Sunday for the weigh-in. The new format will continue for the next two months.
Neil Pizarro caught the largest flathead of the weekend weighing in at 1.66kgs while Bill Szerszyn caught the largest snapper weighing in at 1.635kgs. Neil Pizarro caught the largest trag with a weight of 3.170kgs and Jim Haworth caught a dolphin fish weighing 2.271kgs. Jamie Richards accumulated the most points over the weekend with 389.60.
After every competition, a lunch and monthly prize presentation is held at Club Forster at 2.30pm.
The cost of joining the club is $10 with a $5 yearly renewal fee as well as a monthly fishing cost of $5 when you fish.
