Thomas began cornet lessons at just eight years of age. Now in his mid-teens, he has been an active member of the Great Lakes Band for nearly six years, playing both the trumpet and bugle.
But his musical interests spread far and wide – he is also a member of our community orchestra, Sinfonia Mid North Coast, and as a Year 10 student, he is studying music as an elective subject at St. Clare’s High School, as well as being a member of their band, and is much involved in their musical productions and band competitions.
He has also participated in the Eisteddfod for many years, not only in the band section, but as an individual competitor in the trumpet and guitar divisions as well.
“We were very pleased to support the nomination of Thomas for this award,” councilor Leigh Vaughan, Chair of the Band Management Committee said.
“Thomas is a dedicated musician and a talented all-rounder. His recognition in this way is well deserved”.
