Year 6 school representatives from Pacific Palms, Bungwahl, Tuncurry, Forster Public Schools and Holy Name were each allocated the name of a war and were given a tree to plant as a symbol of the war and those brave men and women who served.
The tree planting day was held at Lone Pine Memorial Park in Tuncurry on Friday (October 24).
RSL Sub Branch president Frank Brady said the trees were a form of remembrance for the brave Australians who fought in all aspects of war.
“These trees we trust will send down deep roots into the ground of this memorial park and they will thrive and grow just like our Lone Pine. They will be a living memorial and serve to remind us all that the spirit of ANZAC is alive and well.”
