A NSW Police spokesperson told the Great Lakes Advocate yesterday that police had not received permission from the family to release his name.
The man is believed to have been aged between 25 and 30 years old but it is not known whether he was a local or a visitor. Witnesses told police the man had been walking along the Pacific Highway south of the town at about 7pm on Friday October 24 when he was struck by a southbound four-wheel-drive. He died at the scene.
The driver of the four-wheel-drive, a 53-year-old Pillar Valley man, was taken to Manning Rural Referral Hospital for mandatory blood and urine testing. Police will prepare a brief for the information of the Coroner. Anyone with information about the incident should contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
