A RECENT function held by the Mid North Coast chapter of the Men of League (MOL) has contributed to the ongoing fundraising efforts for two local sportsmen, Jared Wynter and Curtis Landers.
Both Jared and Curtis are undergoing intensive treatment and rehabilitation programs. Jared is currently being treated for stage four soft tissue sarcoma - a rare form of cancer that affects his brain and lungs while Curtis is recovering from spinal injuries which he suffered during a football game in Port Macquarie earlier this year.
The function, held at the Taree Leagues and Sports Club, was attended by some of the biggest names in the game and raised in excess of $5000 and has been shared between Jared and Curtis.
Both boys intend to sit for their coaching accreditation in the coming months with the eventual aim of coaching at junior league level.
The function was one of a number conducted by MOL Mid North Coast each year which helps those involved in the game with an easier pathway when life throws unexpected challenges.
MOL is now a national organisation with over 25,000 members which has contributed over $5 million to those in need in recent years.
MOL member Marshall Loadsman said the organisation salutes Jared and Curtis on their positive and mature attitudes and is proud to assist with what has become an extraordinary local project.
MOL hopes the donation serves as a morale boost to both young men and their families as they continue on their path to recovery.
