Turner placed second in the 100 metre freestyle with a time of 49.92 seconds and fourth in the 50 metre freestyle with a time of 22.71. Turner achieved personal best times in both events. 

It’s an outstanding result for Turner who only began swimming again 14 months ago after having a break from the sport in 2009. 

Reece has enjoyed some major accomplishments in the sport having been a member of the Junior Pan Pac team in 2007, competed at the Oceania 2008 West tour of America and as a 16-year-old in 2006 held the world record in the 400m freestyle short course event.  

Turner’s recent achievement has wrapped up a highly successful season for Forster Aquatic Swimming Club with success at the NSW Short Course Country Championships where 14 North Coast records were broken by local swimmers. 

Thalia Kladis received silver in the 100 backstroke, Dane Jeffery received three bronze in the 100 metre breaststroke, 200 metre breaststroke and 100 metre freestyle and Reece Turner received gold in the 50 metre freestyle and silver in the 100 metre freestyle. 

Great results were also achieved at the NSW State Short Course Championships with eight new North Coast records. 

The morale and team spirit amongst the swimmers is at an all time high and coach Peter Sanders is looking forward to working with his talented squad during the upcoming season.

The club season commences on October 10 and Forster Swimming Club welcomes all past members as well as new swimmers of any ability.
