IT will be a momentous occasion this weekend with the official opening of the new Cape Hawke Surf Club.

Federal Member for Paterson Bob Baldwin will be in attendance to mark the opening at 10.30am. The club has received funding from federal and state governments, Great Lakes Council, contributed funds of its own as well as donations from local citizens for the project.
Sunday will also be a Surf Club Open Day which will allow members of the public to have a look at the new premises.
The weekend will also mark the start to the club’s patrol season. Patrols commence on Saturday between 9am and 1pm with the first patrol by Alan Bawden and Greg Brown and Sunday’s patrol by Adam Mulligan and Stephen Hamilton. In the early part of the season, beaches will only be patrolled for half of the day while full day patrols will be carried out in summer from 9am to 5pm.
