This year’s child protection awareness walk over the Forster Tuncurry bridge on Thursday September 11 invites residents to walk in support of National Child Protection Week, whose core message states that ‘protecting children is everyone’s business’.
The consequences of child abuse and neglect threaten the wellbeing of current and future Australian children by affecting their mental, emotional and physical health, levels of violence and crime, addiction, educational attainment and employment.
Its impacts can last a lifetime.
The National Association for Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect (NAPCAN) has been running National Child Protection Week campaign for over 20 years, providing communities and individuals with practical information to take action at a local level.
Forster Tuncurry’s Home-Start Family Service is inviting Great Lakes residents to join in the bridge walk at 11am on Thursday September 11 from John Holland Park in Forster (next to the trampolines) to John Wright Park in Tuncurry, in support of National Child Protection Week.
The walk will be followed by a free sausage sizzle.
