Thanks to Stumpy Elliott for helping our history come alive by bringing a list of names into the Great Lakes Museum recently for a mystery photo published in The Advocate on August 13.
The photo depicts members of the Wallis Lake Lodge group. They are as follows: Jack “Cork” Tate, Herb Martin, Ces Barnes, Barney Brown, Lenny Brown, Alf Johnson, Arthur Ralston, Mr Mansfield, Terry Horan, Jim Barclay, Lester Brown, Harry Elliott, Bill Shersingh, Ces ‘Snow’ Hardy and Pop Dent.
Only two names were originally documented with the image and Stumpy’s contribution of names for the rest of the faces will now be documented along with the photograph and uploaded to the clickHistory Great Lakes database, due to be launched this November.
The permanent online database of local history images will make over 1000 historic photographs from the Great Lakes Museum’s collection accessible to the community.
The project is being funded by the State Library of NSW and supported by the Powerhouse Museum’s Regional Services Program.
