A FORSTER apprentice has won the 2014 Country Apprentice Scholarship award which offers financial assistance to eligible country NSW apprentices to support their apprenticeship training.

Member for Myall Lakes Stephen Bromhead presented Michael Stark with one of only 10 scholarships which are awarded in NSW each year.
“Michael is a very deserving recipient of the award as he clearly meets each of the selection criteria – aptitude, hardship and skill shortage,” Mr Bromhead said.
The scholarship is worth $5000 for each year the apprentice is completing training to a maximum of $15,000.
Michael commenced his electrical apprenticeship in October 2013 with local electrician Grant Fleming from Cog Electrics, who describes Michael as being a huge asset to his business.
Mr Bromhead said Michael’s young daughter had a kidney removed before her first birthday and requires continuous monitoring of her health. As a result Michael’s wife Kristy is unable to work fulltime.
“What is so impressive about Michael is that with the support from his wife and employer he is progressing well at TAFE with excellent result in all subjects completed this year. Michael also lends constant assistance to the younger members of his class.
“Apprenticeships are so important in developing and training young tradespeople and it is fantastic to see Cog Electrics offer Michael this opportunity,” Mr Bromhead said.
