Ahead of the season, a lot of hard work will be going into planning patrols, ensuring all safety equipment is in order and a general club clean up.
We need club members to ensure they have registered for the season and are on the lookout for new patrolling members or old ones who wish to get involved.
Anybody requiring information on joining a patrol please contact Simon Lee on 0414 548 276.
Current and prospective members are welcome to come along and register for the season or find out what surf life saving has to offer its volunteers.
Registration days are coming up and on Sunday, August 17, club nippers had a planning session for the season with a great turnout of interested parents. For more information on nippers or for parents wishing to get involved this season please contact Beth Lee on 0405 328 047.
Apart from patrolling our beach we are also looking forward to the 19th year of the Professionals Weekend of Surf which will be held on the October long weekend.
This event brings competitors, officials, parents and friends from up and down our coast to compete in multiple events including an 8km ski race, Ironman events on the Saturday and a regular surf carnival on the Sunday.
A bronze medallion and surf rescue certificate course will be held on October 16 at 5.30pm. Training for this award will be held on Saturday mornings at 8am and Thursday evenings at 5.30pm for seven weeks with the assessment likely to be held on Saturday November 29 (if all candidates progress satisfactorily).
You must have turned 15 years old on or before November 29 to attend the bronze medallion course and 13 years old to attend the surf rescue certificate course.
For more information phone the club on 6554 5592.
Congratulations to Alan Davis President of Crowdy Head SLSC who was awarded the NSW Lifesaver of the Year Award at the SLSNSW Awards of Excellence on Saturday night in Sydney.
Alan is a great contributor to Surf Life Saving at club and branch level and is most deserving of this prestigious award.
