What do you collect? - I collect, cut and polish gem stones myself and turn them into little trees. I have some of them on display at the Forster Arts and Crafts centre.
Why gems? - I love getting them rough and polishing them up and finding the beauty inside.
How did you get into collecting? - About 35 years ago my husband got bowel cancer and he was feeling very depressed so I thought it would be good for us. I later did a degree in gemology and taught in it.
What is your favourite item in the collection? - It’s actually one I found in the shape of a cross. I’m not religious, I just like it because I found it just like that - it’s very small.
