Pool rescue is an international sport which comes under the umbrella of the Royal Life Saving Society and Surf Life Saving Australia.
It consists of a variety of events held in a 50m pool. Events include the 200 metre obstacle race, line throw rescue, 50 metre swim with fins, 100 metre manikin tow, 100 metre manikin carry, 50 metre manikin carry, 4 x 50 metre obstacle relay and 4 x 50 metre medley relay.
The local team consists of Freyja Cornish, Misty Cornish, Karla Berg, Chelsea Herb, Georgia Hadenham, Forbes Thurtell, Zack Hender and Laura Thurtell.
The team have been training for the past 10 weeks at the YMCA Aquatic Centre in Forster.
For the past two years, Forster SLSC has been successful in the line throw event returning with medals each time.
This new squad of eight consists of five new members who have not done a pool rescue before. The swimmers are hoping for a successful weekend.
