OVER the years crowds have been growing at Anzac Day services across the Great Lakes and this Friday is expected to be no exception.
A dawn service will be held at the Little Street memorial in Forster at 6am. As part of the service, a wreath will be taken out on a Marine Rescue vessel and cast out to sea to symbolise the departure of our local servicemen over the oceans.
Tickets will then be made available for breakfast at Club Forster, for those wearing medals only.
At 10.10am, people marching in the parade will form up behind the Westpac building on Memorial Drive and set off at 10.30am. The morning service will be held at 11am at the Forster memorial. The Forster-Tuncurry RSL sub-branch advises that road closures will be in place for a short period on Memorial Drive, Wharf Street, Head Street (at the bridge), Beach Street, Wallis Street, Lake Street, Little Street and Helen Street between 10am and 11.30am to allow the march and service to take place.
A luncheon will be held at Club Forster following the service, for ex-servicemen and women only.
Those intending to lay a wreath on the day have been asked to contact Graeme Kernick at the Forster Tuncurry RSL sub-branch on 6554 5959 before Friday so it can be incorporated into proceedings.
